do this lay down on your side legs on top of each other pick up top leg and just keep kicking the air then swithch sides!!!

me and my friend actually asked a trainer this question, he sayed running/jogging is best, but if not try yoga and pilaties, they strengthen and lean you out, there for no bulk

It depends. IF you are overweight and you exercise without increasing your calorie intake you will tone up/slim down - so running and/or walking is good. It takes A LOT of weight to bulk up - so running will not do that to you. The bottom line: if you want to be smaller you need to find a diet and exercise plan that works for you. The mantra is “calories in and calories out” - and you need to get out more than you take in - so less food and more exercise. Try kick-starting yourself by walking 30 minutes/day and building up to running for 30 minutes.
ps: where you lose weight depends on your body type. I am large-chested and it is the last place from which I lose weight.

that leg exercise is bad for your back,
don’t worry about your thighs, have you ever seen marathon runners? those girls have some of the smallest legs I’ve ever seen, it’s very hard to build an unsightly amount of muscle on your thighs, not to mention muscle consumes calories so the more you have the more you’ll burn just sitting there every day. In addition it’s impossible to build muscle on top of fat, so in order to get to where you are afraid of going, you would litterally need to lose all of the fat on your thighs and then build lots of muscle, which can’t be done with running alone, you would have to lift a lot of weights with your legs.
Running would be very good for you, there’s no need to worry about too much muscle.
For even faster results and great body tone you should really try swimming
p.s. it’s not as simple as calories out calories in, if you take in less than around 12-1500 calories per day it will be impossible for you to lose signifigant weight.
